The ‘harvest flora mod’ by Dejunai changes the way that ingredients look in the world of Oblivion, after you harvest them. Flowers will be picked from the plants, leaving just the green bits, fruits will be stripped and herbs look like you just ripped their head off - not to mention mushrooms .. they completely disappear. It does not affect game play in any way, the ingredients still grow back after the same time and the chance that you harvest successfully is also not modified (There is actually another mod that does that, the skill based harvesting mod, but at the time of writing it is not compatible with this mod).

I had been looking at this mod a while ago, but it was not the final release yet and the installation instructions were quite complicated as you needed to download 2 versions and merge them. We don’t release beta or buggy mods on this site and even though this mod was not in beta stages anymore, I decided to wait until it would be released in it’s ultimate form. Today I received an email from the author (Dejunai) that he had uploaded his final version to the server. So I plugged it in to give it a little test drive.

There are different versions in the archive that you can use : the main version, an ‘extreme cpu’ version and a stop version. The stop mod can be used to gradually return the world of Oblivion back to normal if you want to stop using the mod. I selected the normal mod since my CPU is not so extreme (3Ghz) and the read me file clearly says it was only included for future high-end PCs. The mod worked great for me, I tried lots of different plants and they all reacted fine. I found it especially useful when there is a large concentration of flowers or other herbs together, it really helps to see which ones you’ve already attempted to harvest. This has immediately received a permanent spot in my Oblivion mods list, harvesting is now quicker, easier and it looks better too.
